FAQs

Questions about Photoshoots

Whether you choose Bright Apple Photography to photograph your children every year, or whether it's a once in a lifetime investment for example your wedding or newborn photography, your photoshoot will be a very personal experience.  You will be left with a collection of beautifully individual photos and memories to cherish forever. Here are some of the most commonly asked questions I get.

How long before I can see the photos from my session?

There is usually a 3 week waiting period before your photos are available for viewing while I carefully edit them to the highest quality. After this your photos will be online for a one month period to enable you to order as many as you like before they are removed from the website. I never delete photos but should you need them to be uploaded online again a fee will apply.

How many photos do you take?

I don't place a limit on the number I take, I do however carefully edit the best best photos from the shoot so you will have the best quality images in your final edited collection.

What should I wear for my photoshoot?

Whether you are having a family photoshoot or maternity session there are a few little tips to help you be a bit better prepared

Avoid over bearing stripes, spots, patterned fabrics and logo’s...I also love accessories like hats and gloves for the chilly months of the year.

Don’t be tempted to both wear the same colour tops and kakhi bottoms for example with a little planning, you can look natural and still colour coordinated.

What does work is complimentary colors and picking colors that are flattering to your skin tone. Dress for the season as well and avoid overly low necklines. Layering is great for maternity photos so a pretty scarf or cardigan and clothes that show off your bump nicely.

Hair/makeup Makeup for photographs should be slightly heavier than normal. Too much makeup tends to give you that painted look, too little might not show off your features. A loose translucent powder is helpful to eliminate shine especially for oily skin. Hands are also feature a lot in maternity photos so make sure they are moisturised and looking pretty.

For outside photoshoots please avoid wearing trainers they are a real picture killer!

Please also bring baby wipes and tissues for shoots with children, it always amazes me just how quickly little ones can get dirty!  For more information please take a look at the What to wear on a photoshoot page

When is payment due?

Deposits are payable in advance to secure your booking, remaining payment is then due on the day of your photoshoot.

*Bookings are not confirmed until your deposit has been paid* Deposits are not refundable but are transferable if more that 48 hours notice is given to move your booking.

Where to you take Maternity photos?

I can work from the studio in West Molesey or out on location in Surrey, whatever suits you to create stunning maternity photos of you and your bump.
The best time for maternity photoshoots is around 32-36 weeks, so please call around your 28th week of pregnancy to get your date in the diary.

What happens on a Newborn Photography Shoot?

Please take a look at my newborn guide for more detailed information.

Where do Children's shoot take place?

After children are over a year old I usually recommend outdoors. Little people have so much energy and fun, I find the most rewarding photos come from capturing them at play in their own worlds of imagination. Playing with the family dog, pretending to be a flower fairy, catching bugs and jumping in puddles and big piles of leaves all go to make wonderful memories. I do however offer indoor portraits for children under the age of one (or before they can walk) and once again when they are over the age of 6. Please note I only travel for a maximum of 10 miles from the KT13 postcode for shoots. If in doubt please ask me.

What happens if it rains?

Obviously an importantly question given how changeable our weather can be. If I decide on the day that the weather is unsuitable then we can reschedule at no extra cost. I have photographed in all sorts of weather conditions before and captured some lovely photos (bright umbrella's, wellies, big puddles and kids all go very well together!). In fact overcast days provide the most flattering light to shoot in.

Who has the rights to the photographs?

I always retain full copyright - although when you buy digital images I grant full printing rights to you and use for personal distribution (eg facebook, emailing to friends and family). If you wish to use any photos for commercial purposes further fees will apply.

Unless you specifically request otherwise there is a chance I may use your images in my website portfolio or on promotional information for Bright Apple Photography.
