Newborn Photography

The best age for newborn photography is when babies are between 5-25 days new. During this time babies are still very sleepy and curly. They don’t mind you moving them around from pose to pose while they rest in dreamland!  Once they have a full belly and are kept warm, they will generally sleep the entire session!

We can take lovely photos of baby at any age, however please be aware that when babies are over 25 days I can no longer guarantee the sleepy, curly newborn style, we can still take lovely photos but they are less posed and prop focused, instead they are more awake and more natural, with details like their lovely chubby toes and tiny fingers.

Your newborn photography session will be a special milestone in your baby’s life.  I want to help you tell the story of your new baby.  I like to create a calm and peaceful environment during our time  together.  It’s important to let me know if we will be photographing older siblings, as well as mummy and daddy shots.  Sibling shots will take place at the beginning of the session so that we may have the remaining time focusing on the baby alone. When older siblings are under 7 years old I highly encourage arrangements be made for them to leave the studio after their images have been taken at the start, the studio is very warm and hours of sitting quietly whilst we take newborn photos is rarely on their busy agendas. Parent shots (if no siblings are present) will take place at the end of the sesssion.

All newborn photoshoots take place in my Surrey Studio. In the studio we have multiple props, blankets and wraps for you to pick and choose as you like. The studio has been designed specifically for newborns and their families to be comfortable and welcoming whilst getting the very best lighting for the best photographic results. All shoots are tailored to you and your preferences whether that be simple and classic or lots of props, we discuss colours to fit in with your home and personal tastes to create images which you'll love.

Newborn Photography sessions take place Monday to Friday only. All sessions must start between 9.30 and 12.30 subject to availability.
